North Carolina FC proudly introduces attacker Evan Conway as another new member of the roster ahead of the team’s return to the USL Championship in 2024. The Wisconsin native played collegiately in his home state before rising through the USL ranks.
Climbing the Ladder
Conway has played in the top three leagues of the United Soccer League throughout his career. He began in the USL League 2 with Ventura County Fusion in 2019 while finishing his collegiate career. He then spent two impressive seasons with Union Omaha of USL League One in 2020 and 2021 before joining San Diego Loyal of the USL Championship each of the last two seasons.
Coast to Coast
Conway stayed in his home state of Wisconsin for college, serving as a four-year starter for the Milwaukee Panthers of the Horizon League. Since then, he’s become a cross-country traveler for his professional career. He ventured 500 miles west to Omaha, Nebraska, then completed the west coast voyage to the Pacific in San Diego, California. Now, he continues his professional journey on the east coast.
Panther Pride
Conway grew up in the Milwaukee suburbs, leading Whitefish Bay High School to the 2015 Wisconsin State Championship. Growing up, he’d attend Panther matches at Engelmann Stadium, routinely going to the Milwaukee Cup (Milwaukee vs. Marquette) with his youth club and even served as a ball boy a few times.
It came full circle in 2016, when he scored twice in his first Milwaukee Cup to lead the Panthers from a 3-0 deficit to a dramatic 3-3 draw en route to Horizon League Freshman of the Year honors. The Panthers would win the next three iterations of the derby, with Conway going 3-0-1 against his crosstown rival for his career. His senior season, he led the Panthers on a miraculous run through the Horizon League Tournament that fell just short in a penalty shootout in the championship match, narrowly missing a berth in the NCAA Tournament.
Conway proved time and time again to step up for the big moments in college, and that has carried over to his professional career.
