CARY, NC (April 18, 2022) – North Carolina FC forward Garrett McLaughlin has been named to the USL League One Team of the Week for Week Three of the 2022 regular season, the club announced today.
“It’s nice to get recognized after a game but definitely not the end goal,” McLaughlin said. “I thought the team played well on Saturday, and we were unlucky to not get a win with the amount of chances we created.”
McLaughlin earns Team of the Week accolades following a standout performance in NCFC’s most recent 1-1 draw against Greenville Triumph SC. During the contest, the Oklahoma City native collected his third goal in three consecutive regular season matches, equalizing for the North Carolina side in the 35th minute. With last Saturday’s goal in hand, McLaughlin is now deadlocked in a two-way tie in the Golden Boot race with Charlotte Independence midfielder Tresor Mbuyu.
“Garrett is showing each week the impact that he can have in our league and is a major contributor to our team at North Carolina FC,” said Head Coach John Bradford. “I’m excited for him and his start to the season and know this recognition is something he can continue to build on.”
