CARY, N.C. (May 6, 2021) – North Carolina FC has announced WakeMed Health & Hospitals and Wake Orthopaedics as the team’s front-of-jersey sponsors for the 2021 season. WakeMed and Wake Orthopaedics, a WakeMed Physicians Practice, are longtime supporters of the Club and the 150-acre soccer park facility (WakeMed Soccer Park), which together has been a key factor in the continued growth of the professional soccer club.
WakeMed has served as the soccer park’s namesake since 2008, and for more than a decade, Wake Orthopaedics has been the official sports medicine provider for the North Carolina FC men's and NC Courage women's soccer teams. WakeMed Soccer Park plays host to all NC Courage and North Carolina FC home games, as well as special events including the ACC Soccer Tournament, the NCAA College Cup and various international competitions.
“The North Carolina Football Club continues to drive interest and opportunity for athletes and fans of all ages, while always making the health and well-being of the players and our community a priority,” said Dr. Jonathan Chappell, orthopedic surgeon at Wake Orthopaedics and team physician for the NC Courage and North Carolina FC. “Serving alongside the league, I’ve seen the spark of soccer create a lasting, healthy impact among our local youth and their families. We look forward to being part of the 2021 season and supporting community programs for youth-to-professional soccer players for years to come.”
“As we continue to develop the sport and further identify and develop homegrown soccer talent, we’re proud to build on an already terrific partnership with WakeMed and Wake Ortho,” said North Carolina Football Club’s Chief Revenue Officer, Kyle Prairie. “Together we’ll continue to provide the very best care and support of the players and families that we serve.”
