Cary, NC (February 9, 2021)- North Carolina FC adds Josh Coan to their roster pending league and federation approval ahead of the 2021 season. Coan is a former NCFC Academy and U23 player that spent the 2020 season with USL League One team FC Tucson.
“It’s great to welcome Josh Coan back to North Carolina FC, where he came through our Academy Program,” said NCFC head coach, John Bradford. “Josh is a creative, attacking player that had an impact in his first professional season last year within USL League One, scoring some terrific goals and bringing quality to the field. I look forward to working with him again soon.”
Following his time with the NCFC Academy, Coan attended the University of Pittsburgh where he played in 2016 and 2017. Following his sophomore season, he made four appearances and scored one goal as a member of the NCFC U-23 team. He then transferred to Marquette University for his junior and senior year where he played in 37 games, scoring nine goals and tallying seven assists.
In his one season with FC Tucson, Coan made 11 appearances for 561 minutes and scored a team-high four goals. With eight shots on the year, he converted 50 percent of his attempts on net and 88 percent of his shots were on goal.
