The North Carolina FC Youth Academy had a strong showing in the opening weekend of season play as the U-18/19, U-15 and both U-13 teams came away with victories.
NCFC Youth Academy opened up against in-state opponent North Carolina Fusion, and won three out of five matchups, while the NCFC South teams split their matchup against AFC Lightning.
Standouts from the weekend include five Academy players who netted braces for their team in Ervin Cruz (U-15 North), Alberto Olea (U14 North), Aedon Sundstrom (U-13 North), Yuvan Ranon (U-13 North) and John Mcdowell (U-14 South). Hector Rodriguez (U-13 South) recorded the sole hat trick for the Academy this weekend against the AFC Lightning U-13 squad.
