We’re back with another installment of 5 in 5, where we ask your favorite NCFC players five questions in five minutes, plus it only takes you five minutes to read! This week we caught up with NCFC midfielder, Jonathon Orlando.
Orlando is a 29-year-old midfielder born and raised in Maryland, just outside of Washington, D.C. Orlando joined NCFC in 2016. This season he has appeared in four NASL matches and one Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup match. In the Open Cup, Orlando played the full 90 minutes against the Carolina Dynamo and scored his first goal of the season.
- Do you have any kind of pre-game rituals?
“I just pray. I do that before every game. We have chapel and then prayer. That’s basically my only ritual.”
- What are your thoughts on the team this year?
“The team this year is a good group. I think that there’s a lot of talent. I have a good relationship with everyone on the team. Obviously, this is my second year and a lot of guys have come back and a lot of new guys have integrated themselves into the team. It’s all been good.”
- If you could play any other sport professionally, what would it be?
“I would play basketball for sure. I would play point guard and I would want to play for the Washington Wizards. They’re my home-town team.”
- Do you have a specific Bible verse or quote that is significant to you?
“I’ve got a bunch, but I have 2 Timothy 1:7 tattooed on me. 'God didn’t give me a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind.' That’s my go-to. There’s so many more, but I’m just going to give that one.”
- Do you have any charities or organizations in the local community that you support?
“I’ve done some work with the local Read and Feed and I’m interested in that. I’ve planned to do some more work with them coming up. I’ve been looking for charities to support. If anybody has any, let me know!”
