(June 2, 2017) – North Carolina FC (4W-2D-3L, 14 pts, 3rd place) returns home from its two-game NASL road trip to face the New York Cosmos (3W-4D-1L, 13 pts, 4th place) at Sahlen’s Stadium at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C. on Sunday, June 4 at 4 p.m. in a match presented by North Carolina Football Club Starting Eleven partner CII.
NCFC has won two of its last three NASL matches and looks to continue its strong run of form. Goalkeeper Brian Sylvestre remains the league leader in saves with 40, 13 more than the next closest keeper.
North Carolina will attempt to return to its strong offensive form at home against a Cosmos defense that has struggled with consistency. NCFC is currently second in the league with 14 goals scored and tied for the league lead with a 17% goal conversion rate. The team has options on the offensive end, as 10 players have scored for the club this season.
The Cosmos have historically caused problems for NCFC, winning five of the last six matches in the series over the last two years. New York’s offense is paced by a collective effort with nine goals from eight goal scorers. Jimmy Maurer leads the Cosmos in goal and is ranked second in the league in saves with 27 and third in shutouts with three.

Marquez leads the Cosmos with two goals and 17 shots. The Spaniard has been one Cosmos’ main attacking threats and has created seven chances and logged one assist this season.
