
After a 15 goal season and capturing the North American Soccer League (NASL) Golden Boot Award, RailHawks’ forward Brian Shriver has been named to the 2013 NASL Best XI. The NASL Best XI is voted on by the NASL coaches.
Shriver’s selection to the league’s Best XI marks the third consecutive year that a RailHawks player has been named to the NASL’s yearly recognition. Shriver totaled 16 goals in 2013, including U.S. Open Cup play, pushing the RailHawks’ striker to second all-time on the RailHawks goal scoring list with 27 goals.

North American Soccer League Unveils 2013 Best XI
ATLANTA, Ga. (November 7, 2013) – The North American Soccer League has unveiled its 2013 Best XI, which was selected by the coaches of the eight teams that competed in the 2013 NASL season.
The announcement comes on the eve of NASL Soccer Bowl 2013 when the Atlanta Silverbacks and New York Cosmos clash at Silverbacks Park at 7.30pm ET live on ESPN3 in English and ESPN Deportes in Spanish.
North American Soccer League 2013 Best XI
Goalkeeper
Joe Nasco, Atlanta Silverbacks: Played 19 games and earned seven victories, while posting four shutouts. The native of Kissimmee, Fla. earned NASL Co-Player of the Week honors, along with two Team of the Week accolades, as he helped the Silverbacks to this year’s NASL Spring title.
Defenders
Aaron Pitchkolan, Minnesota United FC: The Aurora Colo. native, who also played in the midfield, saw action in 20 matches in 2013 and scored two goals and added an assist. He played a key role on Minnesota’s defense and was selected to the NASL Team of the Week three times.
Martyn Lancaster, Atlanta Silverbacks: The captain played 23 games and scored once. The English born stopper was also recipient of Player of the Week honors and orchestrated a defense that was key in the team’s run to the Spring title.
Albert Watson, FC Edmonton: Saw action in 20 matches and had one assist during his stellar performance for the Eddies defense that surrendered just one goal per game in both the Spring and Fall seasons. The native of Northern Ireland was also named to the Team of the Week six times.
Midfielders
Luke Mulholland, Tampa Bay Rowdies: A nine-time NASL Team of the Week selection who saw action in 25 games for the Rowdies and finished with 11 goals. The English born also dished out seven assists which was second-best in the league. He was selected twice as Player of the Month in April and October.
Miguel Ibarra, Minnesota United FC: Played all 26 games for United and scored once, while dishing out three assists. The native of Lancaster, California, was selected to the Team of the Week on three occasions.
Richard Menjivar, Atlanta Silverbacks: El Salvadorian international saw action in 21 games with Silverbacks and notched two goals while dishing out two assists. He was named to the Team of the Week four times.
Marcos Senna, New York Cosmos: A Two-time Player of the Week winner had 13 appearances for the Cosmos in the Fall Season. The former Spanish international scored five goals and had two assists, while also being a five-time Team of the Week selectee.
Forwards
Georgi Hristov, Tampa Bay Rowdies: Led the Rowdies in scoring with 12 and was atop the assist category in the NASL with eight. Chosen to the Team of the Week on seven occasions and once named as Player of the Week, the Bulgarian played 22 games in 2013.
Brian Shriver, Carolina RailHawks: Was the NASL Golden Boot winner as he ended the year with a league-leading 15 goals. The native of Clearwater, Fla. played 22 times and added an assist to his offensive totals with the RailHawks. A three-time Player of the Week winner, he was selected to the Team of the Week on seven occasions.
Hans Denissen, San Antonio Scorpions: Scored 12 goals and recorded out two assists in 21 games with the Scorpions. A Player of the Week and Month winner, the Dutch striker also made the Team of the Week seven times.
