When the historic collaboration between the North Carolina Football Club, CASL and Triangle Futbol Club Alliance was announced in March of 2017, it changed the landscape of youth soccer in North Carolina.
The move united two massive youth soccer organizations in the Triangle area and merged their identity with North Carolina Football Club, creating North Carolina FC Youth and the largest youth-to-professional soccer club in the United States. The combination has already allowed North Carolina FC to grow its membership to over 20,000 members, and seen nearly 14,000 youth soccer players take the field wearing the club’s crest.
The set up will also allow a clear path for the identification and development of young players, which will enable the development of homegrown professional players for North Carolina FC and the NC Courage. So far several NCFC Youth Acaddemy players have spent time with the senior team, training in a professional environment and earning amateur or professional contracts with the club.
The partnership now continues to take shape with the start of the U.S. Soccer Developmental Academy (DA) season. The season marks the inaugural Girl’s Developmental Academy season. The NC Courage Academy will field U14, U15, U17 and U19 teams. In the 11th year of the Boy’s DA, the NCFC Youth Academy will feature 10 boy’s teams ranging from the U12-U19 levels.
All 10 NCFC Youth Academy teams will be in action over the weekend, competing against other Academy programs in the Southeast DA Academy Region. The NCFC Youth Del Sol U12 side will face the Charlotte Soccer Academy U12 team on Saturday, Sep. 2. The NCFC Youth U12, U13 and U14 South teams will face ISL FC sides on Saturday, Sep. 2 at Elon Park in Charlotte, N.C. The NCFC U12, U13 and U14 North sides along with the U15, U17 and U19 teams will head to BB&T Park in Advance, N.C., to face the NC Fusion.
The four NC Courage Academy teams will start their season at home on Sunday, Sep. 10, playing against the Charlotte Soccer Academy at WRAL Soccer Park in Raleigh.
