The North Carolina FC Youth Academy teams have been hard at work this Fall. Along with balancing the success and playoff push of the nationally-competitive U15, U17 and U19 squads, the Academy’s expansion at the U12, U13 and U14 level has brought a new level of depth to the club’s emerging talent base.
During the past month, NCFC’s Academy teams have taken home several big results, putting its teams in strong position for playoff qualification at the U15, U17 and U19 levels. With a month left of play before the Academy Showcase in November, all three teams are getting set for key battles against regional opponents during the final stretch of the Fall season.

NCFC will face Charlotte Soccer Academy, United Futbol Academy, Chargers Soccer Club and IMG Academy to close out the Fall. The teams will then travel to the Winter Showcase on Dec. 1 for one of the biggest Academy events of the year. The Winter Showcase will provide meaningful, competitive matches for the clubs and serve as a premier opportunity for talent identification, as 74 of the best Academy teams across the country will play at the event.
At the U14, U13 and U12 levels, the teams are earning big results and progressing in their seasons. The on-field results paired with the organizational advancement of the Academy was best highlighted a few weeks ago when the Academy saw its NCFC North and NCFC South teams face off against each other at the U12, U13 and U14 levels for the first time. The games produced some of the most competitive matches the young NCFC sides have faced all season.
“It was the first weekend where we had the entirety of the South Division in action against the North and it was a real culmination of so much hard work that has gone into making this possible,” said NCFC Youth Academy Director John Bradford. “With so much change within our club and Developmental Academy Program, it’s important to recognize all the efforts that have been made to broaden the foundation of our area’s elite player platform with the growth of the South Division. Ultimately this will provide more opportunities to additional top young players in all geographic areas. This helps us with our goal to produce even more top players in the future.”
The North and South U13 and U14 teams are now preparing for the Developmental Academy’s East Conference Boys' Regional Showcase this weekend. The matches will pit NCFC’s North and South U13 and U14 teams against competition from Northeast and Atlantic Region teams, including MLS Academy sides New York City FC and Philadelphia Union.
Additionally, the Academy continues to be a leader on the player development front, as it recently had 17 players from the U13-15 ages selected to train at US Soccer’s Training Center in Greensboro, N.C. The invitation provided a chance for the players to be evaluated by U.S. Soccer scouts and be considered for future selection to the youth national teams.
