
North Carolina FC clinched a spot in the USL Championship Playoffs Monday night as a result of Swope Park Rangers’ 2-1 win over Birmingham Legion FC.
With the result between Swope Park and Birmingham, seventh-place NCFC (14W-9L-8D, 50 points) is guaranteed a top-10 finish in the Eastern Conference, where the top 10 teams qualify for the postseason.
Three regular-season games remain for NCFC, which is postseason bound for the second time in three seasons. Head coach Dave Sarachan’s squad, coming off a 3-1 win against Ottawa Fury FC, is back at home as it hosts New York Red Bulls II at Sahlen’s Stadium at WakeMed Soccer Park on Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
After traveling to Nashville SC on Oct. 12, NCFC will close out the regular season at home on Saturday, Oct. 19, at 7:00 p.m. against Saint Louis FC.
The start date of NCFC’s postseason journey is yet to be determined, as seeds Nos. 7-10 will partake in the Play-In Round on Wednesday, Oct. 23. Seeds Nos. 1-6 begin the postseason in the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals, which will take place from Oct. 25-27.
