CARY, N.C. (Sept. 10, 2024) — Five North Carolina FC players have been named to the USL Championship Team of the Week for Week 27 following the team’s emphatic 5-0 win over Oakland Roots SC Saturday, the league announced Tuesday.
Paco Craig, Rafa Mentzingen, Ezra Armstrong, Rodrigo Da Costa and Evan Conway each found the back of the net in the win to earn their places in the USL Championship’s weekly honor.
Rodrigo Da Costa scored the opening goal in the 6’ minute and assisted Armstrong’s second-half strike. Craig knocked home a Mikey Maldonado corner and anchored a strong defensive effort for NCFC’s 10th clean sheet of the season.
Armstrong and Mentzingen both created two chances in addition to their goals, while Conway’s strike was his team-leading ninth of the season.
Armstrong has been named to the USL Championship Team of the Week more than any other NCFC player, with the Week 27 honor being his fifth of the season. Craig and Mentzingen were both named to the team for a third time this year, while Conway earned his second weekly honor of the season. Da Costa’s inclusion on the team was a first for him in the 2024 season.
NCFC is back on the road for Week 28, taking on Memphis 901 FC on Saturday, September 14, at 8 p.m. ET.
