The NCFC Youth Academy continued its season on Saturday, Sep. 16. Many of the Academy teams made home debuts at WRAL Soccer Center, while the NCFC South U13 and U14 squads headed to Georgia to take on the United Futbol Academy.
In Cumming, Ga., both NCFC South sides dropped narrow results to United Futbol Academy. Despite the overall results, both teams played a strong game and are continuing to develop and gain valuable experience from their matches.
Back at WRAL Soccer Center, NCFC South U12 and NCFC Del Sol U12 continued to progress in their development. The two sides faced each other and played out a pair of highly competitive matches.
In regional play, the NCFC Youth Academy welcomed six teams from the Carolina Rapids. The club earned six wins and one draw on the day to go undefeated against the in-state rivals.
NCFC North U12 downed Carolina Rapids 3-1 and 7-2 to stay undefeated on the season. The side had six different goal scorers between the matches, while Finn Sundstrom scored a brace in the 3-1 victory and Cole Trollip added a hat trick in the 7-2 finale.
Both the NCFC North U13 and U14 teams picked up big victories over the Rapids. NCFC North U13 downed Carolina Rapids U13 8-2, as Ander Breidsprecher, Alexander Martin and Ryan Ziegler all scored two goals apiece. Zizo Harfoush and John Rodelli also added goals in the big win.
NCFC North U14 continued its impressive start to the season with another big win, defeating the Rapids 5-1. Marvin Mariche scored in his third-straight contest, while Axcel Martinez added a goal and Osvaldo Monreal scored a hat trick.
NCFC U15 added a standout defensive performance in a 0-0 draw against Rapids U15, and NCFC U17 took down Rapids U17 with a 3-1 victory. Stephen Vorobiov scored a brace to put NCFC up 2-0. The Rapids responded with a late goal in the 88th minute, but Owen O'Malley iced the match with a strike in the 90th minute.
NCFC U19 closed out the day with a dominating win, taking down Rapids U19 6-0. George Marks picked up the clean sheet in goal. Robert Screen scored a hat trick and Miguel Montano, Miles Peay and Orlin Roque all scored goals to pace NCFC’s attack.
NCFC Youth Academy will be back in action this weekend, as its U15, U17 and U19 squads visit Florida for matches against Orlando City SC and Boca United FC, while NCFC North U12, U13 and U14 will face respective sides from ISL FC at Elon Park in Charlotte. NCFC Youth Del Sol will take on the NC Fusion in a doubleheader at Bryan Park, while the NCFC Youth South U12 side will visit Charlotte Soccer Academy for two matches at Thomas Brooks Park.
