
Enzo Martinez returns to the Carolina RailHawks on loan from Real Salt Lake of Major League Soccer for the remainder of the 2013 Season. The loan brings back Martinez, a former RailHawks U-23’s and University of North Carolina standout, who enjoyed a three game stint with the RailHawks in May.
In his first match with the RailHawks, Martinez hit a wonder-strike in Minnesota to tie the match 2-2. The goal can be seen here.
A member of the RailHawks U-23’s team that captured the 2011 USASA Men’s U-23 Region III and National Championships, Martinez joins a RailHawks squad that includes 10 other players with soccer ties to the state of North Carolina. Martinez also becomes the 8th player currently on the RailHawks roster who previously played for the RailHawks U-23’s and U-23’s head coach Dewan Bader.
The Rock Hill, South Carolina native enjoyed a stellar three-year career for the UNC Tar Heels Men’s soccer program that included three trips to the NCAA College Cup (2009-2011), an ACC Championship (2011), and culminated with capturing the 2011 NCAA National Championship. In the 2012 MLS SuperDraft, Real Salt Lake chose Martinez with the 17th overall draft pick.
The RailHawks open the NASL Fall Season at WakeMed Soccer Park when they host FC Edmonton on Saturday, August 3rd at 7:00pm.
