
Capital Area RailHawks Academy teams returned from the winter break mid-January and some of our players are already making headlines as a result of being called to US Soccer National Team Camps. Furthermore, the Capital Area RailHawks Academy added former Horizon League Coach of the Year at Butler University and current North Carolina State University Head Coach Kelly Findley to the Academy Staff for the 2015 Spring.
More than 20 players have been called into US Soccer Market Training Centers this year, of which five have been called into various US Soccer Youth National Team Camps. Lucas Del Rosario, (currently at U-17 Residency) has been called into multiple U-16 Boys National Team and U-17 Youth National Team events. Likewise, DJ Mason was recently called to the U-18 Men’s National Team in Mexico to play in Copa Chivas.
16-year-old Delasi Batse was selected to participate in the US Soccer Development Academy Winter Showcase select game. His performance led to a U-16 Boys National Team call up and an international trip to Turkey. Also, Academy players Gabe Findley and Duncan Wegner were called into a U-14 Boys National Team Camp.
As previously announced, former Capital Area RailHawks Academy member Conor Donovan signed a Generation Adidas contract and was drafted by Orlando City FC in the MLS SuperDraft. Additionally, the Houston Dynamo picked former U-23 Capital Area RailHawks Academy player Rob Lovejoy and the Seattle Sounders drafted former RailHawks U-23 forward Andy Craven. Furthermore, Dre Fortune, also a former Capital Area RailHawks Academy player, competed with the Trinidad & Tobago U-20 Men’s National Team in CONCACAF Qualifying earlier this month.
Moreover, The Capital Area RailHawks Academy U-14 team participated in a US Soccer Regional Event last November and competed against top rivals, playing against Philadelphia Union, New York Red Bulls, and New England Revolution.
Several Academy players have agreed to college commitments this year, which add to those who committed last year for the 2015 class.
